HDF924 Fuel Filter Arrows Pointing Different Ways?!

‘Arrow! How are you? Let’s talk about the arrows on the Delphi HDF924 aka 31390-H1970

Over the past few weeks we’ve received a number of phone calls and emails regarding the flow-direction arrows printed on the latest batch of Delphi HDF924 Fuel Filters. It has caused some confusion with some people claiming the “flow direction is wrong”. Since this is such a popular filter suiting Hyundai Terracans, Ssangyongs and Kia vehicles we thought we’d take a look.

Its a bit of a mind game: ignore the change in direction of arrows and focus on WHAT the arrows are saying. Pictured below is the old vs new arrows.

On the LEFT (old) you will see one arrow pointing INTO a tube (meaning inlet) and one arrow pointing AWAY from a tube (meaning outlet).

On the RIGHT (new) you will see one arrow pointing INTO a tube (meaning inlet) and one arrow pointing AWAY from a tube (meaning outlet).

So as you can see, the top tube is still the inlet, and the middle is still the outlet.
